OPD is where the queue is. Whatever else a hospital system does, if registering a patient and printing a receipt takes more than a few seconds, the software has failed at the only moment that everybody in the waiting room can see.
What the counter does
- Find an existing patient by name or mobile, or register a new one
- Automatic UHID, with your own prefix
- Pick the doctor; the consultation fee fills itself in
- Add services from your own list
- Take cash, UPI or card and record which it was
- Print the receipt on the printer you already have
At the end of the day
The cashbook shows what came in and how it was paid, so the drawer can be counted against something. Collections break down by doctor and by service, which is usually the first report an owner actually looks at twice.
It keeps working when the line goes down
All of this runs on the reception PC. No connection needed. That is the whole point: an OPD counter that stops because a router upstream is having a bad afternoon is not a counter you can run a practice on.
Questions we get asked
How long does one patient take?
A repeat patient is a search and a click. A new one is name, age, mobile and doctor, then print. The counter is the busiest place in the building, so the OPD screen was the part rewritten the most.
Can different doctors have different fees?
Yes. Each doctor carries their own consultation fee and it fills in automatically when you pick them.
Does it do GST?
Your GST number sits on the bills if you set it. Healthcare services are largely GST-exempt, so most clinics using this do not need more than that.
